It's chilly in Joburg

We had a cold front come through Joburg.  But, Agnes is ready.
Are you really going to take me outside in this silly outfit?

Well, feral pugs get cold too!

Agnes Antics

My pug Lily would chase the laser pointer until she passed out.  And still would want to chase.  You could point your finger to the ground and she would look for the dot on the ground so excited.  Agnes likes to chase the dot as well.  Though, she's a bit smarter than Lily so she often will come attacking the hand holding the pointer.
Lily hated the dot too!
If you remember, Agnes has a snake that she loves.  She still loves it, and unfortunately, it still squeaks. She likes to bring it to you and squeak it on you.  That squeaker will never die!
Agnes still loves the snake.
She also likes her walks.  We go to the dog park just about every day and she loves it.
Put that leash on me, Mama!

She's been on a medication because we found out she has dedomatic mange.  I feel like a mom who's kid has lice, but it's not the contagious one.  It's the kind that is gotten from the mother and manifests when the immune system is compromised.  By a growth spurt or an illness.  But, hers was a growth spurt, thankfully.  But, she's been on some intense medication to help her.  It knocks her out at night, though, which is pretty funny!  You can do pretty much whatever you want to her, she's so knocked out.

We took her back in today, and the vet was impressed with how well its cleared up.  We're even scheduled to get a spaying now.

Oh, and in other news.  We're talking about getting Agnes her own pug.  Shh...  I don't want her to know that we may be expecting.  I'm not sure if she'll be jealous or excited.  I'm also not sure if we'll go through with it.  I can't imagine loving a dog more than her and I'm worried two will divide my attention.  Though I think she would enjoy having a playmate.  But, it will make going away harder.  See, so many pros and cons!

Agnes gets winterized

Her new winter coat.  Because she's an African pug, she gets chilly.

However, the hood falls over her eyes.  Which makes her a little crazy.

But she cannot accept help.

who me?

Sunny D to the O to the Double G

Agnes is lounging by the pool enjoying the some of the last rays of summer.

And, yes, that is the top to a bottle of Pledge that she has decided is her toy.  Even with all the toys that we've actually bought.

Agnes's new obession

I bought her this snake.  It's puncture proof so the squeaker won't die.  I kind of wish it would because she's able to squeak it and squeak it she does.  From room. To Room.  To Room.

I found it by her dishes this morning.  I guess she thought it was thirsty.  Or it went there itself.  My husband is terrified of snakes so we're not going to posit this theory very loudly.

First blog

This is Agnes.  She was born November 1, 2010 and is a feisty Afrikaaner little pug.  We brought her home on January 2, 2011 - two days after our wedding.  I had a wonderful pug, Lily, prior to this who passed of kidney failure in October at the ripe age of 7.  The poor thing had just immigrated from the US to South Africa and only got to experience her new home for a month.

Lee wanted to name Agnes Lily2.  I could think of nothing worse to call her!  We thought about Lulu, Lola, Lucy to honor Lily's memory.  Then, we were talking about little old ladies and how pugs look like little old ladies and the name Agnes came up as a joke.  The whole family started calling her Agnes before she was even brought home, thus the name stuck.

This is mainly a picture blog and to keep up with her antics, so I can stop boring my friends with all of her details.  They can instead read this instead of me broadcasting to everybody.  And, who doesn't like looking at pictures of funny pug antics?

Day we brought her home.  So tiny!

This is her favorite toy, the warthog.
We are now on number 2 and will probably have to purchase number 3 soon.

I bought this pug for my husband before he bought me my pug Lily.
It's fun to compare because the stuffed pug looks so big next to the babies,
and then suddenly, it's tiny next to the growing pug.

Nothing better after a hard day's work than a lounge in the pool.

After I potty in the house, I get locked out.
And then complain loudly to be let immediately back in.

If you're not paying enough attention to Agnes, she crawls under
furniture and howls until you lift the furniture and help her out.

This is her friend Sidney the Jug (pug/jack russell mix).
Agnes tires a lot more quickly than Sidney does.

My hobbies include gardening.  Or tearing up the garden.
